Pharmaceutical Chemistry
Department of Pharmaceutical chemistry
The Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry aims to provide outcome-based education and skill training in various aspects of drug design and development. Students gain exposure to bioinformatics and computational tools, synthesis of novel molecules using both conventional and green chemistry approaches, spectral characterization, and pharmacological evaluation of small molecules.
In addition, students receive hands-on training in handling a wide range of analytical instruments, including UV-Visible spectrophotometer, FT-IR, Flame photometer, HPLC, HPTLC, and mass spectrometric systems. They are also trained in maintaining Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), along with proper documentation aligned with industry requirements. Special emphasis is placed on quality control and quality assurance at every stage of the drug manufacturing process, ensuring adherence to high ethical standards.
Overview
The department has a team of highly experienced faculty members with diverse research expertise in drug design and synthesis, computational chemistry, peptide synthesis, analytical and bioanalytical method development, pharmacokinetic and metabolic studies. The course delivery and teaching methodology encourage students to think critically, understand concepts deeply, and apply theoretical knowledge to develop practical solutions for real-time healthcare challenges.
