Pharmacology

DEPARTMENT OF PHARMACOLOGY

Pharmacology is the science that explores all aspects of drugs and their interactions with living organisms. Often described as a “bridge science,” it integrates principles from physiology, biochemistry, and molecular biology to support the rational development of therapeutics. The Department of Pharmacology at MVM College of Pharmacy offers comprehensive training in both basic and clinical research, preparing students to understand drug action from molecular mechanisms to therapeutic applications.

Overview

The study of pharmacology is fundamental to human healthcare, and our department ensures strong foundational learning through educational charts, models, prescription training, and interactive teaching methods including problem-based and computer-assisted learning. Toxicity studies, pharmacological screening of drugs, and bioassays on isolated tissues help students gain essential experimental skills.

With a clear vision of producing competent professionals for the pharmaceutical industry, research institutions, academia, and public health sectors, the department provides well-equipped laboratories for both undergraduate teaching and research. Facilities include an advanced animal simulator lab, a well-furnished demonstration room with audiovisual support, and a departmental library to enhance learning and research activities.
